The Henry B. Babson Residence

The Henry B. Babson residence designed by Louis H. Sullivan c. 1907 in Riverside, Illinois. Babson sold Edison phonographic machines nationwide. Click HERE for more on the Babson residence including some old autochromes. The home has since been demolished.

A great first floor layout, free flowing and wonderful nooks and crannies and long sight lines, yet the praire style exterior is just alittle odd somehow.

funny, I happened to be looking at pictures of this house a few hours ago. Undeniably the work of a brilliant designer, with some really superb moments, yet it doesn't warm me.

I like the way they closed in the sleeping porch...very tasteful. Yet I agree with DED, something leaves me cold with the exterior design.
