The Manhattan Hotel
The Manhattan Hotel designed by Henry J. Hardenbergh c. 1896 at the corner of Madison Avenue and 42nd Street in New York City. The hotel was demolished in 1961 and replaced with an office tower.
Same architect as the Plaza Hotel, built later, I believe? Unfortunately by 1961 this hotel was probably considered out of date and not up to the standards of a modern Hilton and the like. Those richly decorated interiors are magnificent and sadly just a memory.
