The Musical Mutual Protective Union designed by Trowbridge & Livingston c. 1919 on East 85th Street in New York City. Founded in 1863, the union was a local of the American Federation of Musicians. The building is now part of a movie theatre on East 86th Street.

I wish I could go back in time...at least for a fortnight...these structures are simply amazing.....
Did the architects forget that the building was supposed to have a facade? For a theatre/music hall built during this time period that is one of the sparest and most conservative facades imaginable.
This appears to be an annex attached to the main building which was accessed from East 86th Street.
the 85th street exterior was certainly changed for the worse!
